General Policy: There will be two in-class midterm exams and a final exam. There will be 8-9 weekly homework assignments that are due the next Monday. You should feel free to work on homework together, but you should write up your solutions independently. Here is how these items will be weighted:
- Two midterms: 20% each
- Final exam: 45%
- Homeworks: 15%

- First in-class midterm: Wednesday, October 23, 2013 (week 4) at 12:30-13:20
- Second in-class midterm: Wednesday, November 20, 2013 (week 8) at 12:30-13:20
- Final exam: Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 16:00-18:00
Important notice on final exam: It is the policy of the Department of Mathematics that the following rules apply to final exams in all undergraduate mathematical courses:
- The final exam must occur at the time and place designed on the College Final Exam Schedule. In particular, no final examinations may be given during the tenth week of the quarter, except in the case of graduating seniors.
- Any student who wishes to depart from the scheduled final exam time for the course must receive permission from Paul Sally (office is Ry 350, phone is 2-7388, email is sally@math.uchicago.edu). Instructors are not permitted to excuse students from the scheduled time of the final exam except in the cases of an Incomplete.
